Your existing smart hub system must support the Zigbee wireless communication protocol.

Due to the large number of different Zigbee control systems available, it will not be possible to give exact, step-by-step instructions. Rather, this guide will give you a general overview of what to look for to successfully add your Ikea Tradfri control outlet to your existing hub.

Ikea Tradfri control outlets act just like any other Zigbee compatible control outlet you may already be using with your system.

2. Add Ikea Tradfri Control Outlet

To complete the following steps, you will need both your control outlet and Zigbee hub handy.

With the Control Outlet

1. Plug the control outlet into a power outlet. If you're using a power strip, make sure it's turned on.
   

1. If the control outlet was already linked with a smart home system before, you may need to reset it by pressing and holding the button inside the pinhole on the side of the outlet (pointed out in the above image) for at least five seconds.

With the Zigbee Hub

2. Open the control program or app associated with your Zigbee hub.
3. Select to add a new device.This may be under settings, or devices.
4. Select control outlet or plug as the type of device you want to add.
5. Select to scan for a new device.
6. Place the Ikea Tradfri control outlet within two inches of your Zigbee hub to be able to link them.
7. Add the control outlet to any scene or room your system uses to categorize your home.
