How to Calibrate a YUNEEC Typhoon 4K Drone Compass

• Calibrate your drone's accelerometer and compass to eliminate wobbling and other strange flying behaviors.

Before We Begin:

• Have your Yuneec Typhoon 4K already unboxed.

2. Accelerometer Calibration

Your drone's accelerometer is used to determine the position and orientation of the drone when in-flight. While your Yuneec Typhoon 4K calibrates its accelerometer upon starting up, it may be necessary to calibrate your drone if it is not controlling or flying properly.

To Calibrate the Accelerometer

Always turn the remote control on and allow it to boot up before turning your drone on and always turn your drone off before turning off the remote control.

1. Power on your remote control and allow it to fully boot up.
   

1. Power on your drone afterwards by switching the on button on the bottom of the drone.
   

1. On your remote control tap the settings wheel.
   

1. Tap OK.
   

1. Tap Calibration.
   

1. Select Accelerometer.
   

1. Your drone's lights will flash several times. When finished, your drone will reboot.
   

3. Compass Calibration

Your drone's compass figures out what direction the drone is pointed in while it is being controlled. Before taking off for the first time, you'll need to calibrate your drone's compass so it knows where it's going, and controls properly.

To Calibrate the Compass

Always turn the remote control on and allow it to boot up before turning your drone on and always turn your drone off before turning off the remote control.

Do not calibrate the compass inside parking structures, near buildings or surfaces with metal in them (like roads parking lots with rebar). Only calibrate the compass in open areas or fields far away from power lines and other metallic or concrete surfaces or structures.

1. Power on your remote control and allow it to fully boot up.
   

1. Power on your drone afterwards by switching the on button on the bottom of the drone. Make sure your aircraft's nose is pointing north.
   

1. On your remote control tap the settings wheel.
   

1. Tap OK.
   

1. Tap Calibration.
   

1. Tap Compass.
   

1. Your drone will beep and the screen on your remote will read Mag Cali.
   

1. Pick up your aircraft. Hold it flat, with the nose pointing north.

2. The next steps must be completed in less than 30 seconds in order to successfully complete compass calibration.

4. Spin your drone gently forward one revolution until you're holding it flat again.
   

1. Turn your drone to the left 45 degrees. Repeat the revolution you did before.
   

1. Again, turn your drone 45 degrees to the left and repeat the revolution.
   

1. Again, turn your drone 45 degrees to the left and repeat the revolution.
   

1. Place your aircraft down. The main LED will flash red and green rapidly while it calibrates.
2. Once done, the drone will reboot.
