How to Fix Element Smart TV Remote

1. Introduction

Your Element Smart TV comes equipped with a simple, intuitive interface that can be manipulated entirely with the bundled remote control. If you lose the ability to operate your television with the remote control, whether it be entirely or intermittently, the following troubleshooting steps may help resolve your remote control issues.

2. Aim IR Remote Correctly

1. Make sure that there are no obstructions between your remote and the TV.
   

1. Point the remote directly at the TV or at an optimal distance.

3. Replace Batteries

If your remote is unresponsive or responding intermittently, try the following:

1. Open the battery cover and remove the batteries.
2. Insert the batteries observing the proper orientation as indicated in the battery compartment.
   

1. If there is no improvement after reseating the batteries, try replacing them.

4. Power Cycle Component

This is a general guide for rebooting Home Theater or Surround Sound components. This can be any component within your Home Theater system including your TV, A/V Receiver, Cable Box, DVD or Blu-Ray player, etc. Most devices can be power cycled by using their remote controls. However, certain unresponsive devices may need to be unplugged from power if the remote does nothing or does not completely shut the component off.

To power cycle a component using its remote control:

1. Press the power button on the remote control of the component you need to power cycle.
   

1. The component should turn off and can then be turned back on at any time using the same button on the remote control.

If power cycling via the component's remote control does not work:

You can use any device with a digital camera and a live display, such as a handheld camera, computer webcam, smartphone or tablet camera, to test the infrared emitter in your remote.

1. Point your remote towards the camera lens. If you use a smartphone, you can use the selfie (front facing) camera.
   

1. Press any button on the remote and look at the live display of the camera.
2. You should see a flashing purple light as you press and hold the button.
