The C by GE app is used to regularly update the firmware of your C by GE Smart Light. If your smart light fails to update, this may mean that there was a problem with your internet connection at the time, or there may actually be an issue with the smart light itself. Because smart lights are such simple devices, there are not many troubleshooting steps involved when an update fails.
This guide will take you through the process of restarting your smart light. If the update still fails to apply, the smart light must be fully reset. Once reset, the C by GE app can be used to attempt to update the light again.

If the update still failed to apply successfully, your smart light must be fully reset. In order to reset your smart light, it must be turned on and off multiple times in sequence. The specific number of times this must be done and the number of seconds the smart bulb must be turned on or off for can vary. Thankfully, the C by GE app will provide this information as the factory reset process is performed.
To begin the reset process, have your mobile device with the C by GE app handy, and be near the power switch that controls the problematic smart light.
