How to Improve Video Quality on YUNEEC Typhoon 4K

1. Introduction

While there are no known issues with the CGO3 camera on your Yuneec Typhoon 4K, you may experience less than stellar video quality in certain circumstances. Many times, this is due to certain operational conditions that can make you think your camera may have something wrong with it. The following guide will go over some best practices that will help you make sure you're doing everything you can to get the best picture quality out of your drone.

2. Video Recording Best Practices

General Drone Handling Tips

Do not fly your Yuneec Typhoon in high winds or otherwise dangerous weather conditions. Not only does this cause video issues but it could seriously damage your drone.
Make sure the Rubber Dampeners on the gimbal mount are firmly installed. They all must be fully installed to isolate vibrations.
If your camera is vibrating you may need to adjust the weight on the back of the camera pod by turning it clockwise (inward) or turning it counter-clockwise (outward) in small increments until the vibration stops.
Do not cover the antennae with your hands as it can interrupt the signal.
Your video link may look delayed due to obstructions or emissions nearby. Try flying at a different location. You could also be flying the Typhoon too far away or out of Line of Sight. Try pointing the flat part of your ST10+ Transmitter toward the Aircraft and Camera.
Ensure that you have removed the camera gimbal cover/protector before you turn on your Typhoon.

Minimum Focus Distance

The minimum focus distance is the shortest distance at which a lens can focus.

If you're closer than the minimum focus distance then your image will be blurry.

If the image does not focus correctly, try moving away further until you get the desired result.

microSD Speed Issues

Most drones need higher transfer speeds on the microSD card. While Yuneec Typhoon 4K can use a card with a speed rating of 10. You should consider looking for a card with a speed class of U3 or above. U3 gives you a speed of 30Mb/s. A slower speed can result in choppy, lagging, or fragmented videos.

On average you'll be able to record 90 minutes of video on a 16gb sdcard.

The microSD card will have U3 on it. As will the packaging.
