Reset to Factory Default

If you can access the Purple using the Firewalla App, go to Box Settings -> Advanced -> Reset -> Reset to Factory Defaults.

Reset via App

If Purple is not reachable through the Home screen in the App, follow the steps below to reset.

1) If you are using iOS

  1. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the Purple and the other to your router or a switch.
  2. Open the Firewalla App, go to the Home screen and tap the top-right icon "…" to go to App Settings, scroll down and tap the Reset Firewalla box.
  3. Wait for the Purple to be discovered, tap it, then tap reset.
  4. Scan the QR code at the bottom of the Purple when asked.

2) If you are using Android

  • First screen -> tap the top-right icon "…" -> scroll down and tap on "Hardware Troubleshooting"
  • Wait for the Purple to be discovered -> tap the purple box -> scan QR code -> tap on 'Reset to Factory Defaults'

When the status light starts to blink Blue, the box is reset and booting up. If the RED light is solid on, the reset is failed. You may need to try again. If that fails again, move Manual Reset

Follow the Installation guide as to how to configure your network connections to the Purple for whichever mode you want to select following the reset.

Manual Reset

If the App fails to discover the Firewalla App on the steps above, you can reset the box without App.

  1. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the Purple and the other to your router or a switch.
  2. Unplug the power cable to power off the Firewalla Box.
  3. Use a paperclip to "gently" press and hold the RESET button, then plug in the power cable to power on the Firewalla Purple. (Please DO NOT USE SHARP objects or press too hard)
  1. Continue holding the RESET button while checking the status light on the back of the Purple to the left of the USB port. It will blink blue, then red, then blue. Purple is now resetting and you can remove the paperclip.
  1. When the status light starts to blink Blue, the box is reset and booting up.
